Pastor (Bi-Vocational)

The pastor shall serve as the spiritual leader of Speegleville Baptist Church, feeding, leading, and nurturing the members of this church and community. This person’s main responsibilities will be to communicate God’s Word, minister to spiritual needs, and provide biblical leadership.

 

Minimum Training and Experience:

Some seminary training and prior pastoral experience at an established Baptist church, which would qualify a person to pastor and preach the word of God to our church.

 

Special Requirements:

  1. Converted and called to the pastoral ministry.
  2. Licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Southern Baptist churches.
  3. Spiritual and personal integrity and maturity.
  4. Ability and willingness to share Christ and disciple others.
  5. Positive human relations skills.
  6. Obvious motivational skills.
  7. Ability to communicate well through a pulpit ministry.
  8. Proven love for the fellowship of a local church.
  9. Ability to empathize with the deep concerns of the congregation.

 

Duties — Responsibilities:

  1. Proclaim the Word of God in a regular pulpit ministry.
  2. Oversee the ministerial and church staff. Provide direction for the church program.
  3. Provide leadership and vision for the church. Direct plans for ministry and church growth.
  4. Motivate, equip and nurture the people of the church through example, preaching and teaching God’s Word and spiritual counseling.
  5. Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study.
  6. Facilitate the contact/visitation of hospitalized or grieving church members.
  7. Officiate at weddings and funerals.
  8. Oversee church discipline and manage conflict in the church. Seek to reconcile relationships and promote unity within the church.
  9. Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival or other special services, visitation and other outreach efforts.
  10. To manage his money with integrity so as not to bring reproach upon the church.
  11. The Pastor, when possible, shall moderate all business meetings of the church, operating within the By—Laws of Speegleville Baptist Church.
  12. Work with various standing and special committees in accomplishing their respective duties, as specified within the By—Laws of Speegleville Baptist Church.
  13. Lead in observance of the ordinances of the church.
  14. Cooperate with local, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern; keep the church informed of denominational developments; represent the church in denominational and civic matters.

 

The Pastor is allowed two (2) weeks vacation per year with the church paying the supply.

Youth Director

Principal Function: Coordinating and promoting church programs and encouraging the spiritual growth of students (grades 6-12). 

 

Working Relationships: Reports to the Pastor or Deacons if the Pastor position is not filled. 

 

Salary/Time off: This position is a contract (1099) and part time position without benefits with personal responsibility for all IRS reporting and payments. Salary is $175.00 weekly. You will be given one scheduled Sunday off per quarter. You will be responsible to arrange someone within the church to cover for you. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate a balanced approach to student ministry that includes Bible study, discipleship training, Outreach, recreation, fellowship, and mission action within the ministry plan of Speegleville Baptist Church.
  • Work with the Church Ministry Team and Outreach Committee to plan, implement and evaluate a balanced student ministry program. 
  • Provide Christian guidance and pastoral care to meet the special needs of young people and their parents. 
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest educational methods and share them with the Pastor.  
  • Recommend and manage the student ministry budget.  
  • Be available Sunday morning, Wednesday nights and weekends as planned for youth ministry events as well as to work with the Pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed. 
  • Visit prospects and members related to student ministry. 
  • Comply with all established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:  Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

The position of Student Minister requires: 

  • A high school diploma. 
  • 2 years experience is recommended as youth church staff or other youth-related position.Comparable volunteer service may be considered in lieu of staff experience.
  • Requires exceptional communication skills, including public speaking, and the ability to speak confidently before groups. Requires quality leadership and administrative skills. 
  • Requires basic ability to use computer software, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and social media tools.
  • Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. 
  • Requires passing criminal and sexual misconduct background checks.
  • Attending Church Council and Outreach Committee meetings when scheduled.
