Church News — February 23, 2023 — Farewell Edition

Dear Church Family,

On this final post from me to the church, I want to take time to thank you all for the tremendous blessing it has been to serve you as pastor of Speegleville Baptist Church.  It has been a great joy for Angela and myself to serve here for the past 20 years.

On my last Sunday (February 26, 2023) as pastor of Speegleville Baptist Church, we will have a special worship service and meal.  We have some special guests who will be a part of this Sunday’s service.  In addition to our regular Sunday schedule, we will also be licensing Kyle Hodge for the gospel ministry.  The licensing process in Baptist churches is the first step toward ordination.  I look forward to that part of our worship on Sunday.  Kyle continues to be a blessing for our church as he leads our students and helps in so many ways.

After Sunday’s service a church-wide meal will be served.  The BBQ will be provided (thanks Robert and Barbara Hoffman for preparing the brisket). You may bring side-dishes and/or desserts for this meal.  This will be a great time of food, fellowship, and a time to remember the blessings of the past 20 years.

I want to emphasize again that the deacons have been planning for the next stage in the life of Speegleville Baptist Church.  Guest preachers have been arranged for March and April.  There are some very exciting plans that I believe will greatly benefit the church during the upcoming interim period.  I know that each of you will keep this process in your prayers.  Thank you again to Danny Lightfoot and the deacons for their work in this area.

Angela and I look forward to seeing each of you this Sunday as we say our farewells.  As the Lord has blessed Speegleville Baptist Church for over 173 years, I know that the Lord will continue to bless the church in this years to come.

Blessings,

Joe Bailey
