October 31, 2020
Dear Church Family,
I hope this email finds everyone doing well on this last Friday of October 2020,. Thank you for your faithfulness as we continue meeting on-line for all of our church services.
We will not have our annual “Trunk-n-Treat” this year. I know we are all disappointed about not having this event, but I anticipate that next year’s event will be even greater and safer!
As we enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons I want to let you know of some ways that you can help families, especially in the Speegleville area, with holiday meals and presents.
For our next Food Pantry distribution (November 18), we are hoping to provide our families with Thanksgiving meals. To do that, we have some special items that we need for our Food Pantry. Below are the items that are needed.
Stove Top Dressing (box)
Cornbread mix
Bagged potatoes
Rolls
Packaged gravy mix
Cranberry sauce
Canned Yams
Chicken broth
Evaporated milk
Frozen Pumpkin/Apple pies
Thank you for your help with this important ministry. The deadline for donating these items is Monday, Nov. 16.
In the past, we have participated in providing Christmas gifts through Operation Shoe Box and the Mission Waco Toy Store. Due to the pandemic, this year we are focusing our attention on needs in our Speegleville community. Working with our Food Pantry and Speegleville Elementary School we are creating a list of Christmas presents/toys that have been requested. After the Thanksgiving break, we will receive a list of needed items from Speegleville Elementary. Debi Barnett is working with the families that we minister to through the Food Pantry for a list of items that they need. As soon as we have those lists, I will let you know of the needed items. If you still would like to donate a “shoe-box” for Operation Christmas Child, you can go to this web-page and virtually give for a shoe-box.
While it is not as important as in past years, this Sunday is time change Sunday. Be sure to turn your clocks back (Fall-back) one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night.
If you have not already voted, remember that our church is a polling location for the general election this Tuesday, Nov. 3.
As we continue our Sunday worship services and Wednesday night services online, I want to thank you for your faithful support through your prayers, encouraging words, and faithful giving.
Blessings,
Joe Bailey
