From the Pastor-October 2019
While the thermometer says it is still summer, we know from the calendar it is fall, and we are entering an exciting time of the year at Speegleville Baptist Church. In just a few weeks we will be celebrating a time of Thanksgiving and then getting our hearts ready for the celebration of the advent of our Lord. Before those events, we still have a lot going on at our church to help us daily celebrate the blessings of God.
This month, along with our many weekly activities, the youth will have a “lock-in,” our association will be holding their 160th annual meeting (where I will be serving as the moderator), and October ends with our “Trunk-n-Treat” (6:00 – 7:00 p.m.).
On Wednesday night, during our adult Bible study, I am leading a series of lessons on “Living Christ-like in a Christ-less World.” These lessons are taken from the books of Hebrews and 1 Peter. On Sunday morning I am continuing the series of sermons on rest entitled: “Looking for the ‘Rest’ in You.” I hope you will always make church attendance a priority in your life.
I know that October will be another great month at church, and I look forward to seeing each of you in church during September as we join together to: Worship God, Share Christ, and Build Believers.
Your Pastor,
Joe Bailey
